Prairie College of Applied Arts and Technology Receives Equipment Donation

February 6, 2006

On Friday, January 27, 2006, Candy O’Connor, Dean of Prairie College of Applied Arts and Technology (PCAAT), received exciting news from a Prairie staff member. She was informed that there was a nursing home closing in Summerland, British Columbia and that the furniture and equipment from this 28-bed facility had to be moved immediately. Upon further investigation it became clear that the Christian owner, Pat Murphy, was interested in donating the inventory to Prairie’s new College.

Within a couple of days Candy flew to Summerland to look over the inventory. She was warmly greeted, given a tour of the facility and offered anything that PCAAT could use. Apart from the hospital beds, which are a costly item in themselves, Prairie was able to secure wheelchairs, walkers, bedside tables, hospital linen and numerous miscellaneous nursing supplies. “It was a real gift from God and further confirmation that His blessing is on the new College,” stated the Dean.

This past weekend, Neal Konynenbelt, Director of the Physical Plant at Prairie, hired a team of former Prairie students to help load the 53 foot truck which arrived safely Monday morning. This important equipment for PCAAT now resides in storage at Prairie until its new facility is built.

Prairie is a leading Canadian centre of higher education for Christians. We equip students to achieve their life, ministry, and career purpose and to fulfill their role within the Body of Christ.
