Prairie Changes Athletic League

March 17, 2005

For the past 10 years Prairie Bible College has been participating in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC), playing against teams from colleges such as Mount Royal and SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology).

After more than a year of evaluating the role and function of the athletic experience on Prairie’s campus, the administration has come to the conclusion that at this time, Prairie’s strategic goals for accomplishing its institutional purpose are not dependent upon participation in the ACAC.

Starting in the fall of 2005 Prairie will be joining the Alberta Colleges Athletic League (ACAL). Colleges in this league include Olds College, Rocky Mountain, Taylor and Canadian Alliance University.

Prairie remains committed to training students to use the avenue of sports as a ministry tool by applying biblical principles for effective Christian leadership and recreation management. Through Prairie’s SPORT program students receive training in team management, conflict resolution, public speaking and personal management.

“Prairie Bible College will continue to offer a credible athletic program for student development purposes and to meet the specific opportunities in athletic ministries which help to enable the Body of Christ to reach the world with the Gospel of Christ.” Prairie President – Dr. Jon Ohlhauser

Prairie is a leading Canadian centre of higher education for Christians. We equip students to achieve their life, ministry and career purpose and to fulfill their role within the Body of Christ.
