Spiritual Formation Council Convenes
May 20, 2005
Prairie’s new Spiritual Formation Council met for the first time to begin its mandate to initiate and give oversight to the coordination of the strategic initiative for a campus-wide spiritual formation model (as instructed by the 2003-2006 strategic plan). In addition to identifying opportunities for discipleship the Council will also receive recommendations related to the concept of spiritual formation within the Prairie community from any institutional division or department. The SFC shall operate in full awareness of the Institute’s mission to enable the Body of Christ to reach the world with the Gospel of Christ.
“In my research, I am impressed with the correlation between the spiritual health of Christian Colleges and the importance placed on discipleship by their Presidents. There is strong evidence to suggest that the less emphasis the President has for spiritual formation in the community, the less likely there will be meaningful discipleship. As chair of this Council, I look forward to developing a comprehensive spiritual formation model for Prairie,” Dr. Jon Ohlhauser, President.
Membership for this new Council consists of students, non-teaching staff and teaching staff. In addition, the Chair of the Three Hills Ministerial is a part of the Council and will be providing an invaluable perspective from the grouping of church congregations with which many of the Prairie staff and students worship and fellowship in the Three Hills area.
