Employment Opportunities
A variety of employment opportunities are available on campus to assist in covering the costs associated with your education. Part-time positions are available in the TS Rendall Library, Food Services Department, Enrollment Office, and Grounds/Maintenance and other departments as the need arises. Please apply in person when you arrive on campus.
International Students: If you are planning on working while in Canada it is important that you get the appropriate permits when from immigration. On your study permit “terms and conditions,” the following phrase (or similar) should be included: “May accept employment on the campus of the institution at which registered in full-time studies” For more information please contact our enrolment office.
Financial Assistance and Scholarships
Financial Aid Services
Prairie has a number of funds to assist students in meeting their educational costs. There are scholarships and bursaries available to new and returning students. At present all of Prairie’s financial awards are based on financial need. Students on academic and/or conduct probation will not normally receive financial assistance or scholarships.
Disbursements
Students who are granted a scholarship from Prairie will have it applied to their student account following registration in January (second semester). Failure to enroll in September disqualifies the student from the entire award.
Applying for Assistance
Students wishing to apply for financial assistance should complete the On-Line Finanical Aid Application
Students applying for the Local Church Scholarship Matching Program need to have their Pastor (or an elder or deacon) complete and sign the Declaration of Support found at the bottom of the Student Financial Assistance Application.
The deadline for all financial assistance (including the Local Church Scholarship Matching Program) is June 1. Email, fax, mail or courier the completed application to:

Student Loans
Applications for provincial and federal student aid must be received at the provincial/state loan and processing centres no later than June 15 in order to have approval before college begins. Applications usually require 6-8 weeks to process. Application forms may be obtained by phoning the Student Finance Officer at Prairie or by calling the student loan centre in your province or state.
No interest or principal payments are required while attending a post secondary institution full–time. Interest payments begin immediately following the end of the semester. Interest does not accrue between academic years if the break is six months or less. Principal payments begin six months following the end of the semester in which you graduate or quit school.

Aviation Scholarships
Many Aviation Scholarships are available at www.avscholars.com
Another great source for aviation scholarships is Aviation Scholarships by Sedgwick D. Hines, an airline pilot from Chicago. It is no longer in print but is often available in many libraries.
Scholarships are awarded in amounts varying from $200 - $2000. The total funds available are listed in the Financial Aid Package which is available from the Student Finance Office or on-line at www.prairie.edu.

Preferred Recipient Student Assistance Fund
This fund exists so that donors are able to make donations to Prairie for the purpose of assisting students in the form of bursaries. To qualify for the program students must demonstrate financial need. Since the amount of the bursary is subject to the availability of funds, students are encouraged to solicit donations to the Preferred Recipient Student Assistance Fund to ensure sufficient funds are raised. Donors have included fellow church members, friends and employers. Decisions with respect to the allocation of bursaries are completely at the discretion of Prairie’s Financial Aid Committee. Students wishing to apply for a Preferred Recipient Bursary should contact the Student Finance Officer to determine if they are eligible.
