Spiritual Formation Student Life Residence

Residence Life
Studies have demonstrated that residential life makes a significant, positive contribution to the retention, academic performance, and personal success of students ( Pascarella and Terenzini, How College Affects Students, 2005 ). We have clearly seen this at Prairie.

At Prairie we build on these strengths by providing a unique environment for individual and community discipleship. Prairie’s residential program supports the educational mandate of the Institute, through a safe and exciting environment where students are challenged to live out their Christian faith on a day-to-day basis. With the help of a caring and knowledgeable staff, residential students are challenged to grow in every area of life, including the spiritual, social, emotional, physical, and intellectual dimensions.

Residence Staff
The Directors of Student Development, as well as the Resident Life Coordinators, seek to develop a dynamic Christian community within the residence. They assist students in the pursuit of spiritual maturity, academic excellence, and social responsibility.

IMPACT Leaders play an important role in residence life at Prairie Bible Institute. These student leaders help to facilitate a distinctly Christian community by encouraging residence students through weekly IMPACT group meetings as well as occasional one-on-one activities. By offering help and support, IMPACT Leaders seek to develop a relationship with you in an effort to strengthen your walk with God and others.

Living in Residence
Living in residence can be one of the most rewarding and challenging experiences of college life. In order to develop an atmosphere of positive encouragement and mutual respect students are asked to be considerate of the well-being of others and to respect the property and facilities in which they reside. The Residence Handbook has been prepared with this challenge in mind. It will provide you with everything you need to know about living in residence at Prairie Bible Institute.

We believe that residence life provides an excellent atmosphere that will enable you to become an integral part of the Prairie community. The residence is not only beneficial for student success in college but forms a context for real change in lives. In light of this, we require all single students who are under the age of 22 or who are part of the freshmen and sophomore classes to live in residence.
