Spiritual Formation
Education Master of Theological Studies ACTS Seminary, Langley, B.C.
Background Van grew up in Edmonton, Calgary and Houston, Texas. He served as an overseer (12 years) and Youth/Young Adult Pastor (10 years) at Cedar Grove Baptist Church, Surrey, B.C. Just previous to coming to Prairie he worked as a graphic artist. He is happily married to Kristen and has three lovely daughters. Van is the elder of children's ministry at Mount Olive Evangelical Free Church. He enjoys having his daughters in horse back-riding, ballet, music lessons, and gymnastics, and catching the various music and drama presentations available in Three Hills. Involvement at Prairie Van arrived at Prairie as a drama instructor in September 2005 and has gradually moved into the Spiritual Formation division. Van is incorporating his pastoral background and spiritual gifting of exhortation and discernment (as well as his passions for truth and for young adults) here at Prairie. Van will be standing in for Glenn Loewen this year as the Dean of Spiritual Formation as Glenn takes a sabbatical for a year. Normally, Van takes direction of the chapel program and the Spiritual Life Conferences: Christian Life Week and Global Connections Conference. He will return to the role of Director of Spiritual Life Ministries in the next school year. Bradley Leenstra is taking his place for this school year.
