Prairie Fills Spiritual Formation Leadership
March 20, 2006
Prairie is pleased to announce the successful completion of the search to find the first Vice President for Spiritual Formation at Prairie Bible Institute. Glenn Loewen, currently serving as the Chair of the Department on Church and Ministry at Prairie Bible College will be presented to PBI’s Board of Directors in April 2006 to begin his assignment as VP of Spiritual Formation on May 1, 2006.
“One of the backbones to the Prairie experience has been discipleship. Three years ago the Board and I recognized that we needed to once again increase our investment in deliberately shaping the discipleship emphasis on campus. As a result we committed Prairie to developing a campus-wide spiritual formation/discipleship model. The first major step toward fulfilling this commitment was to hire Glenn to assume the primary responsibility of building this model. I am thrilled to be working alongside Glenn as together we will be working on strengthening our deliberate attempts to disciple the students God brings to Prairie, challenging them in the Biblical mandate to become more like Jesus Christ,” Jon Ohlhauser, President of Prairie Bible Institute.
“We are all tired of phonies, especially religious ones. Developing authentic Christian character has historically been a critical goal in the spiritual formation process of Prairie students. Depth of genuine character is equally relevant, maybe more so, in the 21st century. Our desire is to step up the challenge for students to develop the character of Jesus that results from a passionate relationship with Him.” says Glenn Loewen.
The Vice President of Spiritual Formation is responsible for providing oversight to the development and implementation of the campus-wide spiritual formation model at Prairie. Because of the centrality of the Body of Christ to Prairie’s mission which is to enable the Body of Christ to reach the world with the Gospel of Christ, the spiritual formation model at Prairie Bible Institute will necessarily be focused upon the believer’s role and responsibilities of serving God within the context of the Body of Christ.
