About Prairie Who We Are
Who We Are
Prairie is a leading Canadian Centre of higher education for Christians. We equip students to achieve their life, ministry and career purpose and to fulfill their role within the Body of Christ.
Three Schools. One Vision
Prairie Bible Institute is comprised of three separate colleges: Prairie Bible College, Prairie College of Applied Arts & Technology and Prairie School of Mission Aviation.
Prairie Bible College is Canada's oldest Bible College and focuses primarily on ministry preparation. It offers accredited four-year Bachelor of Arts degrees in a variety of areas including Ministry, Theology, Intercultural Studies and Performing Arts & Worship. Also offered are two-year Associate of Arts programs and one-year certificates.
In September 2006, Prairie started the first college in Canada to offer two-year vocational programs in conjunction with Christian higher education. With programs in health care, business administration and human services, Prairie College of Applied Arts & Technology allows students to graduate with a two-year Associate of Arts that contains courses in Bible & theology, as well as earn a provincially recognized diploma in their chosen vocational field.
Prairie Bible College has offered quality training in mission aviation for many years. In a recent audit, Transport Canada indicated that our students score higher on their flight tests and written scores compared to students at other Transport Canada licensed facilities across the nation. Our desire is to continue to offer excellent mission aviation training. To ensure this, the program will now be offered through the newly created Prairie School of Mission Aviation.
Our Mission
The mission of Prairie Bible Institute is to educate Christians with excellent Bible teaching, biblically integrated under-graduate education and graduate cross-cultural missions education, which challenge students to understand their connection and responsibility to the Body of Christ and its global mission, and for the purpose of preparing students for a God honouring life of service to kingdom work.
Statement of Faith
Prairie is an interdenominational community. The Statement of Faith provides the biblical foundation of the college's official doctrinal stance. At the same time it allows for some variation in theological perspective or position where variance is warranted by scripture. To review the Statement of Faith click here.
Our Community Covenant
As a Christian educational community we seek to live according to the biblical standards laid down by Jesus Christ for His body, the Church. For the sake of fulfilling the community’s purposes, its members humbly enter into a Community Covenant which articulates our responsibilities within the Prairie community. In joining this community and entering this Covenant we are, before the Lord, acknowledging our dependence on the power and grace of God to live together according to this ideal. Our History
Prairie opened its doors for the first time on October 9, 1922 with eight students meeting in a small abandoned farmhouse. The campus steadily expanded as more and more students began arriving, eager to learn from L.E. Maxwell and numerous other dedicated Bible teachers. For more than eight decades, Prairie has helped prepare thousands of Prairie alumni to become faithful servants of Jesus Christ, reaching out to people in more than 114 countries around the globe.
