Prairie Bible Institute closes its Bookstore

April 3, 2008

The Prairie Bible Institute Administration has made the decision to cease the operations of the Prairie Bookstore. After more than five decades of serving the PBI and Three Hills communities, the Bookstore will close at the end of April, 2008.

"We have run head-on into the competitive realities of today. The strong Canadian dollar added to the increased competition from sources like Costco and Walmart - who are now selling product that has until now been primarily limited to our shelves - has made this current model of selling books and Christian resource material no longer feasible.

"As a College our sole need for book distribution is related to ensuring that our students have access to the resource material necessary for their programs. Because we were unable to envision an economically sustainable retail model for the Bookstore in the current environment and since we have discovered a means to continue to provide resource material for our students, we have made the decision to close the store," Dr. Jon Ohlhauser, President of Prairie Bible Institute.

Prairie will be selling the entire inventory and store fixtures during the month of April. Please contact Marilyn Sept at 403-443-5511 for details.
