Join a community of artistically gifted faculty and students who will encourage you to grow in your passion for Christ and to use your talents with excellence and creativity. As a student in the Performing Arts & Worship program you will choose one of four majors (drama, music, technology or multidisciplinary). Regardless of which major you choose, you will take a number of courses from the other major areas. As a result, you will graduate with a more complete understanding of the different elements that make up our worship experience.
As a Christian artist, you will be called upon to provide a broad range of services for the Church and society. Prairie’s Bachelor of Arts in Performing Arts & Worship / Drama program is designed to mold you into a versatile leader and artist who can function effectively in a variety of contexts and whose expertise is motivated by a biblical world view and firm commitment to a God-centered life of worship.
Program Objectives
Prairie’s BAPW program will equip you to:
• Express a working philosophy of the arts based on a biblical understanding of worship, aesthetics, history, and culture.
• Demonstrate a broad knowledge of music and/or drama in its historical, contemporary, and cultural expressions.
• Demonstrate a broad knowledge of the structures and practical applications of dramatic concepts.
• Develop an appreciation and understanding of the creative/dynamic processes involved in music and/or drama.
• Pursue excellence in the development and use of artistic gifts.
• Integrate artistic excellence with an attitude of servant hood.
Expanded Opportunities
Your BAPW degree emphasizes breadth rather than depth and will prepare you with a broad range of skills in the chosen major for vocations in church ministry, a para-church organization, or the market place. You may also use this foundation to pursue graduate level studies in Arts in Music, Drama, Fine Arts, Church Music or Ministry.
