A Three Year Program (103 Credits)

Pursue a career in the field of music education through Prairie's Diploma in Music, followed by the post diploma program in music education. By finishing up your program at the University of Lethbridge you will receive both the Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Education degrees with the added benefit of having begun your studies i a faith-nurturing environment. (This diploma is designed specifically as a transfer program to the University of Lethbridge.)
Program Objectives
Prairie’s DM program will equip you to:
• Articulate a working philosophy of music based on a biblical understanding of worship, aesthetics, history, and culture.
• Demonstrate a broad knowledge of music in its historical, contemporary, and cultural expressions.
• Demonstrate advanced skills in common practice and contemporary music theory.
• Articulate the processes involved in learning and teaching music.
• Appreciate music from a variety of historical and cultural contexts.
• Design and facilitate corporate worship activities.
• Integrate artistic excellence with an attitude of servant hood.
• Perform at an advanced level in chosen solo and ensemble performing media, using your gifts with versatility and imagination.
• Use MIDI, computer, and other technologies in composing, arranging, notation, and performing music.

Your Diploma in Music is primarily intended as a preparation program for further study in music education, specifically at the University of Lethbridge.
