Mission Statement
Overview
The TESOL certificate of completion courses will be offered as an integrated package over a four week period from April 28-May 23, 2008. Classes will meet during both the morning and the afternoon. Some course work as well as the practicum will be completed after the month of classes are over.
The Program Coordinator
With vast practical experience to draw on, Prairie’s Andy Woodland makes the TESOL classroom come to life. Combining formal linguistic training, ESL teaching experience, and drawing on an incredibly wide variety of 20 years of language learning and teaching experiences in Sweden, Japan, Papua New Guinea, Mexico, Canada and Pakistan, Andy’s TESOL classroom is not just dry theory—he has been there, and can help you succeed as you prepare for service as an ESL teacher whether at home or abroad.
Mr. Woodland’s enthusiasm for languages is contagious, and it shows. In his classes you will not only learn, apply and practice various teaching techniques and methodologies—things that most TESOL courses focus on—you will also learn about cross-cultural living and linguistics… why people act the way they do, and why languages do the things they do... and you will learn to laugh as you lose your inhibitions while learning how to teach pronunciation and how to diagnose language learners’ problems—all in a safe and rich classroom environment.
