Learn to how to use the avenue of sports
as a ministry tool by applying biblical principles for effective
Christian leadership and recreation management. Prairie ‘s
SPORT program is a highly intensive discipleship program that seeks
to form the spiritual attitude and disciplines needed for successful
ministry and leadership. SPORT’s practical training in team
management, conflict resolution, public speaking and personal management
will prepare you for a life of effective ministry whether on the
court, in the Church, or in a secular setting.
This program starts in the middle of August.

Program Objectives
Prairie’s Sport Program will
equip you to:
• Articulate the foundational doctrines
and themes of Scripture and assist others through discipleship to
integrate spiritual truth into their lives.
• Understand and practice the dynamics
of effective biblical communication and leadership within a community
or ministry team context.
• Lead and minister within the context
of an athletic event, using athletics as a tool for Christian ministry
and evangelism.
• Exhibit a consistent godly character
and commit to meaningful participation within your local church.
• Understand and take responsibility
for your role in the work of the global Church.
• Recognize and apply your personal
gifts for the benefit of others.
• Organize, lead, and teach a variety
of sports administration skills at a foundational level.
Expanded Opportunities
If you plan to pursue employment with
camps, churches, Parks & Recreation or youth ministries, you
will find this training invaluable. Upon completing the one-year
certificate you may choose to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Ministries/Sports
Management and Leadership featuring ten practicums provided through
an eight-month to two-year internship. (SPORT is a prerequisite
for the Bachelor of Arts in Ministries/SPORT Management and Leadership
degree.) Several SPORT internships will be available each year and
internship placement assistance will be offered to everyone who
carries on in the BAM/SML degree program. Most of the courses taken
in SPORT can be credited toward another Prairie program.
Entrance Requirements
Applicants must exhibit godly character,
academic ability, and servant leadership. They must desire to live
within an intense learning environment and be challenged spiritually,
academically, and relationally. Additional expectations such as
conduct, attitude, and maturity will be placed on students due to
the nature of the program.
Certification Fees
Additional fees will be charged to
cover some certifications not covered by the tuition. A separate
financial list of fees will be provided. See list below for certifications
offered.
Summit Seminar
SPORT students are required to take
part in the Summit Conference (including course credit for HU 130
Critical Thinking) in the summer preceding their first semester
of studies. Students can be exempted from HU 110 Intro to Writing
& Research if they have earned a C- or higher in a similar,
transferable course from another institution. Another course will
be required in place of HU 110. Any other transfer credit pertaining
to the SPORT program will be considered individually by the Director.
Additional courses must be taken in place of any transfer credits.

• SMCA Taping And Strapping Certification Course (Optional)
• CPR/FA Certification (Optional)
• NSCA Personal Trainer Certification (Optional)
NOTES:
1) All required certifications are incorporated within
SPORT Classes
2) All required certifications must be passed within the course
to pass the class.
