Events Bluegrass Ensemble

Bluegrass Ensemble

The gospel runs wild through roots bluegrass music as Prairie’s Bluegrass Ensemble takes you on a musical journey through time. Down the halls that ring with the tones of Negro Spirituals and drone with the drive of Scottish Bagpipes, you’ll discover lost favorites that come to you with a ‘post-modern’ spin on them. Promising historical authenticity through accurate transcriptions of these “Old-Time” Bluegrass songs, we hope that you’ll come away from this experience a stronger person, able to see bluegrass in a new light.

With an all new student line-up this year, Prairie’s Bluegrass Ensemble promises to dig deeper into the roots of old-time bluegrass music, celebrating the down to earth lyrics, hard driving blues and jazzy syncopation that have been hallmarks of Bill Monroe’s Blue Grass sound since the early 1930’s.
