A4.  What a Volunteer can do for their Youth Pastor
A  volunteer youth work can be the greatest blessing and catalyst to a Youth Pastor.  Volunteers who understand the importance of the role that they play can greatly assist and empower the lead shepherd of a ministry in  providing an environment where students can be raised up as a generation of passionate Christ-followers who will revive the church and change the world.  This workshop will prepare the volunteer youth leader to make this kind of impact.

Al Mertes

Learning to balance the empowerment of youth workers and still having a sense of control can be a quite juggling act.  Looking at consistency, expectations and ministry fit will guide us into getting the most out of a volunteer without burning them out or making them feel used.

“Do you feel God is close to everyone else but you? Sometimes we as leaders are good at teaching others how to stay spiritually healthy, while we ourselves feel dry and distant. This workshop is designed to be a place of refreshment, of refueling, and of revitalizing your personal walk with God.”

It’s not just BEING but BELIEVING.  We woman are not just eye candy, but there is so MUCH more to us than meets the eyes.  There is a wealth of untapped greatness on the inside of us that is buried under insecurity, and a negative self-image.  In this seminar, we’ll expose the lies and empower you to be God’s Girls.  You won’t be the same.

In this workshop you will discover there are many ways to find the dollars you need to help your dreams come true. John Maxwell says, "There is gold in them there pews!" And I add, "There is gold in the pockets of those God brings your way!" How big is your vision? How worthwhile is it for others to follow?

C5. Media.Faith.Culture

It's Time. What are Media, Faith & culture and how do they relate to one another? We’re called to be "Salt and Light". We're also called to be "aliens” and “strangers". Somehow, we have to relate our Ancient Faith with a Modern World. So how does God want us to engage today's culture? Do we just accept the world we live in? Is ‘Christianizing’ modern media the answer? Should we just go about our lives oblivious to the world around us? We need to get real about the world we live in.

Gender-role confusion is prevalent among the youth of today. Learn practical ways to enhance your ministry so that students can recognize and celebrate their unique role that God created for them as young men and women.

Nearly one in two-hundred North American teens struggle with self-injury. Today, young people, under-confident and often scared, are seeking release from their personal struggles in ways many of us would prefer not to contemplate. Only recently have articles on cutting, anorexia and burning begun to rival the numbers of articles on alcohol and substance abuse. In a more visual and dramatic fashion than previously thought possible, young people across our continent are using razors to openly demonstrate the hurt they feel inside. Self-injury is taking teen culture by storm and its impact is evident in teen movies, music lyrics and countless music videos. By examining its history and indisputable attraction for young people, perhaps we can begin to understand its influence, how to combat its effects, and how to start the healing process. Let’s Talk.

Mike Penninga

“How do you build an intentional young adult ministry that is relevant and impactful for 18-30 year olds, undoubtedly one of the “lost generations” in our churches? This workshop will help you process what young adult ministry might look like, how we can inspire this age group to give their very best to God, and what it means to speak into the lives of this emerging generation.”

Darian Kovacs

The place most of your spend Monday to Friday 9a-3p. What can it look like for us as Youth Workers to support, inspire and resource our students to see meaningful campus ministry? We will look at various strategies and styles for seeing the schools in our communities transformed from the inside out. Come and receive free resources to give to your students.

Van Williams

Where do we begin in developing a youth ministry that incorporates drama? What are ways we might be able to implement drama as an extension of what we already do? This session is a chance to collaboratively think through a vision for incorporating drama of many forms in ministry.
