Background
James Janzen has more than 30 years of experience in church music and
music education, having taught in both Christian and public schools. Teaching, conducting, and performing opportunities have taken him to various parts of Canada and U.S. as well as Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, Ukraine and Germany. On the strength of outstanding performances, several of his choral groups have advanced to national level competition. In 2002, the Ambassador Choir, under his direction, received Gold for their national performance in Choralfest. In 1996, he formed, and subsequently conducted Jubilation, Prairie's Wind and Percussion Ensemble. For the past eight years he has conducted the Ambassador Choir, Prairie's auditioned touring chamber choir as well as Masterworks productions such as Handel's Messiah, Haydn's Creation and Mendelssohn's Elijah. During this time he has also served as the Chairman for the Performing Arts and Worship Department. When time allows, he enjoys singing, playing flute, piano and tuba and producing videos and DVDs.
His passion lies at the point at which great choral music, worship, church and education overlap. This passion has led him to become involved in teaching, advising and textbook development with the Christian Music Academy in Ukraine.
