Background
James grew up as a missionary kid in Germany until the end of High
School. After High School, he spent a year at Capernwray in England,
then attended Wheaton College for two years. He then transferred to the
University of Calgary where he finished a degree in Secondary Education
with a minor in History. James then moved to Three Hills where he
started as a Social Studies teacher at Prairie High School, and ended up as Principal. James also met and married his wife
Anne, (another teacher), while teaching at Prairie High School. James returned
to the University of Calgary to obtain his MA in History and has been teaching in the Arts and Science Department at Prairie Bible College until 2005. In the fall of 2005 he began working toward a PhD in History at the University of Cambridge (U.K.) which he plans to complete by the spring of 2010. Besides his current research in the history of modern Christian missions he continues to work in the historical fields of Modern Evangelical Christianity and World Christianity In addition to his scholarly pursuits, he enjoys playing and
coaching sports, particularly volleyball, soccer and alpine skiing.
Involvement at Prairie
In addition to his teaching duties at Prairie,
James is ordained for the Priesthood in the Anglican Church of Canada and currently serves as a lay reader and warden at St Barnabas Anglican Church, Three Hills. He also coaches high school sports and community soccer.
