The applicant must have mission’s experience and training, computer skills, basic accounting skills, excellent interpersonal skills and secretarial training.  Experience in a related position for two or more years would be helpful.  Some knowledge of Prairie Bible Institute is desirable.  Applicants must have a related College degree or equivalent.  The successful applicant must be a self-starter, be good with details and time management, be pleasant and gracious in dealing with people over the telephone and in person, and able to uphold confidentiality.  This is a limited term full time position.

 

PURPOSE

The Administrative Assistant will work to provide continuity with Prairie’s historic involvement in missions and to encourage and foster an awareness of missions and mission opportunities for the Prairie Community.


RESPONSIBILITIES

The main responsibilities for the position are: fostering and maintaining relations with mission organizations/agencies; overseeing, promoting and developing short term missions opportunities for Prairie students; and, overseeing Prairie’s annual Mission Conference. This individual will work under the direction of the VP of Spiritual Formation in respect to the Mission Conference and Short term missions opportunities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics, experience and talents:

  • The minimum qualification is a BA in Intercultural Studies, or equivalent;
  • Experience with Short term missions;
  • Cross cultural experience;
  • Strong communication and relational skills;
  • Be extremely organized, with a high attention to detail;
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in a balanced and courteous manner;
  • Be able to proactively communicate pertinent information with other departments;
  • Have a desire to learn new skills; to professionally grow into a developing role;
  • Be a "team player" who will take responsibility for his/her actions and work;
  • Be familiar with computers, MS Office software, and database management;
  • Ability to relate to, and engage, college students;
  • Leadership and administrative abilities;
  • Ability to work within a team;
  • A commitment to the mission and doctrinal position of Prairie Bible Institute.
