PURPOSE

The Director of the “Discover” Intercultural Studies and Leadership program works in partnership with the Field Director of the Discover program and under the Associate Dean of Off Campus Education. A Male is preferred in this position due to part of their role as dean of men. Director will work with administration of Guatemala Bible Seminary in Guatemala to coordinate field educational components. The Director willspend 4-5 months in off campus traveling with the program, three of which are in Central America, one in Montana (www.prairie.edu/discover).

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Director of Discover will primarily be responsible for program related aspects of the Discover program as well as variousadministrative and student management responsibilities while on Prairie campus. Management responsibilities would include business and administrative responsibilities within the program including budgeting, training and managing student interns, collaborating with faculty, administration and partner agencies.  Program responsibilities will include working with the a Latin field personnel in Guatemala to set up ministries, coordinate language training at the Spanish school, travel details, and work with partnering organizations. The Director may teach courses in Cultural Anthropology, Christian Sustainable Development,Intercultural Leadershipand Ministry and will oversee student’s learning in Guatemala. General responsibilities will include mentoring and coaching students and interns, spiritual formation and development of interns and students, assisting in the development of curriculum, and leading a team of interns who work in staff apprentice roles.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Masters level education or working towards a masters. Person must have excellent servant leadership and facilitation skills. They must work well in a team and know how to empower the gifts of others. Person must have a passion for spiritual and leadership development of students and have mentoring, supervisory, and teaching, and administrative skills. Must have experience and understanding of working in a cross-cultural ministry environment, and it would be highly beneficial to speak Spanish.
