PURPOSE

The position of Webmaster & Digital Services Coordinator exists in order to;

1) maintain a professional and on-going maintenance & development of Prairie’s corporate website,

2) provide oversight of the Distance Education course enhancement team and

3) create synergy and energy around our web and digital services.

Specifically, the person works with the other members of the Marketing Department and Distance Education to implement strategies and initiatives to assist Prairie Bible Institute to achieve its web-related and digital services goals. This person will work half time in each area.


RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Ensure information on Prairie’s website is up-to-date and accurate;
  • Develop web pages for use on the website;
  • Maintain web pages for use on the website;
  • Develop applications and media for use on the website (or radio) including but not limited to blogs, videos, podcasts.
  • Administer Social media accounts on behalf of Prairie (Facebook, Twitter etc)
  • Interact with a variety of departments on campus to service their web needs.
  • Liaison with faculty in enhancing the graphic and web design of their distance education and campus courses.
  • Oversee the maintenance and development of the Learning Management System.
  • Oversee and maintain Distance Education course capture software and hardware
  • Providing oversight to the Prairie Distance Education digital ministry interns
  • Research and implement campus-based digital media systems
  • Is responsible for implementing Prairie’s internet-based marketing initiatives

 

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics, experience and talents:

  • Has a minimum of a diploma level education; Bachelors degree is preferred
  • Must have working knowledge of web languages, database and enhancement software such as Photoshop
  • Must exhibit creativity and artistic thinking
  • Must exhibit technical savvy
  • Will have excellent servant leadership and facilitation skills.
  • Shows evidence of working well in teams and know how to empower the gifts of others.
  • Should have some familiarity with online learning
  • Should have an understanding of online Christian higher education within Canada and the US.
  • Support the general mission, Statement of Faith, religious lifestyle guidelines and vision of Prairie Bible Institute;
  • Should have a heart for and ability to mentor and disciple student workers and interns under their care.
  • Should be conversant with various internet marketing strategies & technologies
  • Experience in any of the following would be considered assets:
    • HTML programming
    • Macromedia products (Dreamweaver, Contribute, etc.)
    • Active Server Pages (ASP) programming
    • Blogging
    • Appropriate education and/or experience in website-related applications.
    • Database management.
    • knowledge of learning management systems and student information systems.

Note: If you have an understanding of how to work with web pages but have never done so in a formal setting we are willing to train the right candidate.
