Alberta MP Speaks at Prairie Graduation to Packed Auditorium
April 24, 2006
On Saturday, April 22 Prairie conducted its eighty-fourth graduation exercises. It was standing room only for those in attendance in the Rick Down Athletic Centre on Prairie’s campus.
“This is what Prairie is about,” stated Prairie’s President, Dr. Jon Ohlhauser. “During the time that these students have spent at Prairie they have learned how to live passionately for Christ – our goal is to have them understand the centrality of the church in our Christian lives and to provide skills that equip them for effective service in both traditional and not-so-traditional ministry around the world. Today we celebrate with them and rejoice in what God has done in the significant achievements of these students.”
Mrs. Diane Ablonczy, MP for Calgary – Nose Hill and Parliamentary Secretary for the Federal Minister of Finance, provided the keynote address for the graduating class. In her remarks she commented on the long history she has had with Prairie, stating that both her father and brother are graduates of the school.
During her address Mrs. Ablonczy exhorted the graduating class to remain true to the things that Prairie has taught. She reminded them that during their time on campus they not only learned skills to further their careers, but also how to live life as transformed individuals. “Prairie has equipped you with life skills that will be applicable wherever you go and in whatever you do,” she stated.
Over 180 students formed the graduating class of 2006. Among them was Charles Wesley Davidson. At age 84 he is Prairie’s oldest graduate.
