Spiritual Formation at Prairie

Purpose

Prairie is deeply committed to spiritual growth as a core in your educational experience. The Apostle Paul articulates the desire that Christ be formed in you (Gal. 4:19). This spiritual transformation process is centered in a relationship with the triune God. Within this relationship, the Holy Spirit directs a process of Christ being formed in you for the sake of God’s glory and the benefit of others.

Processes
Spiritual growth is rooted in and a result of God’s grace. God initiates and enables spiritual formation, but He desires a response of faith to His grace. This response includes passionate and deliberate involvement in avenues of growth.

Prairie Environment
The following describe Prairie’s approach to student involvement in these processes:

Christ-centered—A transformational relationship with the Lord Jesus is at the heart of the discipleship experience.

Biblical—The Bible is the authority for faith and practice.
Essential—Discipleship is an irreplaceable requirement for every student.

Intentional—You are expected to engage in the processes in order to grow deeper in knowing and loving God.
Integrated—Lordship includes every aspect of life: classroom, relationships, place of residence, and ministry.
Counter-cultural—The pursuit of godliness is contrary to popular culture; Following Jesus is radical.
Congregational—Your Prairie experience will involve participation in a local congregation.
