Emma Karin grew up in Sweden in a family who loved God, mission and travel. From the age of 5 she knew she wanted to be a missionary, and towards that goal she did her undergrad in business. She served with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) for 14 years. After a few years at Fuller Theological Seminary, she came to Canada in 2000 to teach at Prairie Graduate School. To date, she has lived in six nations and travelled to about 60 additional countries. Her desire is for students to not just see the world, but to discover and experience what God is doing today around the globe.
In additon to missions, world cultures and religions, Emma Karin's latest research interest is social justice—especially human trafficking.
Emma Karin heads up two programs at Prairie: the Bachelor of Intercultural Studies (BAIS), and Discover. The BAIS includes a 9-month internship called GlobeTREK, which takes students to 10 nations; for 6 months they stay in one place and begin to learn the culture and local language. Discover is a one year program that focuses on Bible and missions; Discover students spend about 7 weeks in Mozambique and South Africa.
